Happy New Year to all of our wonderful SchoolBuy supporters. We hope 2014 is a fantastic year for you all.

Can you believe it’s 2014? Of course, at this time of year there’s plenty of talk about New Year’s resolutions. I read an article recently which advised that to be successful, a New Year’s resolution - just like any goal - needs to be specific, realistic and measurable. In other words, planning to ‘get fit’ isn’t going to cut it. You need to resolve to ‘go to the gym four times a week’ (but only if that’s realistic to you – it certainly isn’t for me).

I know a few people who make the same resolutions every year (although I don’t think that’s really how it’s meant to work), and of course, there are some common resolutions made by millions of people around the world. I guess we all want to be healthier and happier, with more money and more time on our hands. And that means resolutions like quitting smoking, spending more time with family, leaving work on time more often, being more organised, getting out of debt, etc. are bound to be popular. We can’t really help you with any of those, but because we like to be helpful, here are the Top 5 New Year’s resolutions SchoolBuy can help you with:

1)       Lose weight

If losing weight is your number one priority this year, then why not sign up with Weight Watchers or have a look at any of the online pharmacies listed on SchoolBuy (such as ePharmacy, My Chemist, and Priceline) as they all sell popular weight loss products.

2)       Get Fit

If fitness is important, you can’t really go past Rebel for sportswear and equipment, although Amart Allsports is also worth a look.  Another, relatively new site which you may not have heard of yet is Onsport.com.au, and they offer a good range of products.

3)       Travel More

If you’ve resolved that 2014 will be the year to travel more and tick a few more destinations off your bucket list, then don’t forget that we have Expedia, Hotelclub, Hotels.com, and Oaks Hotels, listed on the site.

4)       Read More Books

Anyone who visits SchoolBuy regularly would probably be aware that we love anything that helps promote literacy. Getting kids to embrace reading is a great gift to them, and we know plenty of adults who would like to have more time to read themselves. So, if your resolution is to read more books, then have a look at these sites: Booktopia, QBD The Bookshop and The Nile.

5)       Help Others

Just by shopping via SchoolBuy, you can help raise money for Aussie schools. So, given it doesn’t cost you a cent and literally only involves visiting our site to click a link before you shop, that’s got to be one of the easiest resolutions to keep.

Of course, the schools on SchoolBuy are very worthy of support so as well as shopping via SchoolBuy, you can assist them by getting involved with the P&C and helping with other fundraising activities. 2014 could be the year for getting more involved.

If your New Year’s resolution is to spend less money, then shopping it up with our retail partners might not be the way to go - although you will find that you don’t pay any extra if you shop via SchoolBuy and many of the stores have amazing post-Christmas sales on.

What’s your New Year’s resolution? You can let us know in the comments section below or on our Facebook page. Of course, if your New Year’s resolution is to spend less time on Facebook – then don’t do that at all.

Happy New Year!
